Wedding Flashback: 1990's

For years, the fluffy princess style of the 80's weddings carried on into the 90's. But, as the decade continued, things slowly started to shrink. Skirts had fewer ruffles, sleeves had fewer puffs, and bouquets didn't need to be nearly as large anymore. Eventually, by the mid-late 90's brides were opting for a much sexier, sleeker look. A more form fitting gown made of silk became the staple, and brought about the introduction of the corset back that still is implemented in many wedding gowns today! Long bridal gloves were all the rage, giving brides a more regal look.

Veils became simpler, they stopped using the blusher that covered the bride's face before the wedding and instead just included a simple, single tier gathered at the back of the head. Hair styles became smaller, sleeker, and tighter than the styles of the 80's, most brides and bridesmaids wearing a tight up-do with flowers intertwined or a pearl headband.

Couples in the 90's started the trend of leaving disposable cameras on the tables. Before hashtags and camera phones this was the best way to see candid photos from the guest's point of view- and much quicker than waiting for your photographer to give you your photos.
