Something Different: Guestbooks

Guestbooks that are actually "books" have been working their way out of style for a few years. Most couples want to have a record of guests and everyone who attended, but don't want to resign it to a book that, at best, stays on a shelf for the rest of eternity. More likely, it will end up in a box in a closet- you'll find it in a few years when you're searching for garage sale items and open up that exact box. So, what's a way to get people to record that they were at your wedding, but not waste money on something you'll never use? Well, look no further than this! Or, if you do look further, check out Pinterest. They have everything!

Photo booth with album:

Photo booths have become wildly popular in the last few years and have no plans on slowing down in the future. Sometimes your photo booth provider is willing to provide an album, so they can print an extra copy of the photo, glue it to an album and let your guests write a note of well wishing to you! Yes, it's still a book, but it's a bit more practical to use as a coffee table book than a regular guestbook!

Giant Photo Canvas:

Maybe you were planning on having a photo canvas of one of your engagement photos printed for you to display. Why not have guests sign that? Depending on the size of your wedding you may need an enormous canvas, and plenty of color choices (including metallic that can be used on dark spots) so no matter what color is being signed over, you can be sure to read it.

Shadow Box:

The greatest thing about a shadow box? You can fill it with ANYTHING! Create anything you'd like: heart shaped wood chips, postcards, silk flower petals in your colors, puzzle pieces, anything! Use your imagination and fill the shadow box for easy display!

Puzzle:

Speaking of puzzle pieces, if you and your spouse are into putting puzzles together, why not have a special photo made into a puzzle? Guests could sign their name and perhaps leave a bit of advice or a date night idea on a puzzle piece and you can go through and put it together during or after the honeymoon! Make sure the puzzle is something meaningful to you, an engagement photo, a photo of your ceremony sight, or a honeymoon destination!

A Dish (or set of dishes):

Any large white ceramic dish can be written on in sharpie and baked and sealed later to keep forever! A turkey platter to pull out at Thanksgiving, a pie pan for Christmas, a set of fine serving plates for when company is over.

A Display Quilt:

No one ever has enough quilts. Snuggle up on a cold winter evening under a quilt signed by all of your loved ones who came to your big day!

A Newspaper:

Not just any newspaper, the front page of your wedding day's newspaper! You can then display it and it would be like a time capsule you open every time you pass it. The downside of this idea would be you obviously can't get this beforehand, and you never know what the front page of the news will be... Best to have a backup option just in case.

Have a Hobby?

Have them sign it! Fishing or camping gear, an apron, an instrument, motorcycle helmets, an antique, jenga or scrabble, gaming consoles and controllers, just about anything you can think of is up for being signed!

Christmas Ornaments:

Buy bulk, plain, PLASTIC Christmas tree ornaments to decorate your first tree as a married couple! The best part being your guests get a whole ornament to design how they please with as little as their signed name, a well wish, a drawing, advice, a date night idea, anything! And you pull them out year after year as a reminder of your awesome wedding guests!

Your Dress:

Plan on switching to a reception gown? Plan on keeping your dress? Why not bring your dress to the reception to have guests sign, then have it preserved forever!
