It's easy to be self conscious, especially when purchasing the most important and expensive dress you will ever own. Even the sexiest super model (you all know who I'm talking about) has insecurities about her body. It's always important to be kind to yourself, but especially when making any decisions regarding your wedding. Planning the happiest day of your life should be the happiest time of your life (so far)! So, feel the part of the blushing bride when wedding dress shopping: wear a cute dress, cute shoes, matching underwear, do up your hair nicely, put on a little extra makeup, and bring only your BEST friends.
Don't think:
"I need something that draws attention away from ________."
I'm not saying put a giant bow on your butt if you're sensitive about that area, but let your consultant do their job and put you in something they think will be flattering. They are the experts, they know how to dress you. A little ruching in the right place can actually draw attention away from unflattering areas.
"My boobs won't support sleeveless."
Actually, you can wear anything. No matter the reason behind your no sleeves declaration, there is reason against it. The ladies a little under or over whelming and you don't know if they're going to hold up a sleeveless dress? Sleeveless wedding gowns are built with hidden support inside the material and the ta-tas play a very little part in holding things up.
"This gown will look great when I lose ___ pounds!"
First off, shop for the you you are now. There is no guarantee that you will lose any weight and it's much easier to alter dresses down than up just in case you don't. Secondly, you have no idea what your body will look like without a few pounds. Everyone loses weight differently and you could have a completely different body type in as little as 15 pounds. If you do try and succeed to shed some weight before the big day be sure to find an alterationist who can not only shrink your dress, but adjust the shape of the dress to match your new shape.
