Have you ever gone to a wedding and felt like the food was the same as every other wedding you've ever been to? Yeah, we all know that feeling. Not that the food is bad, usually it's very tasty, but it's just not exciting anymore! But, then again, there are those weddings with food so delicious you eat way more than the two helpings designated to you! Here are some examples of both:
Everyone Loves...
An upscale taco bar! A fully tricked out taco bar can please any of your guests, no matter what their dietary desires or needs. Vegans don't have to use meat, gluten free can make a salad, and everyone can make their own perfect taco!
Everyone Hates...
The "Fish" option... If fish is your vegetarian option you might consider changing that. No one wants to have fish breath all night while they're dancing, and most fish have a very similar flavor no matter the caterer. It's also hard to keep fish tasting fresh, especially when placed in warmers waiting to be served.
Everyone Loves...
BBQ comfort food! There has been a surge in popularity, especially in the American Mid-West, for backyard BBQ style foods. Chicken and ribs, twice baked potatoes, mac&cheese, there's something for everyone and the possibilities are endless to the number of side options you could add!
Everyone Hates...
Complicated food... It might look pretty and taste delicious, but especially during the cocktail hour most food is being held on a plate balanced on a drink being eaten with one hand while you're trying to talk to the bride's Aunt Sally. Make everyone's lives easier by skipping anything that needs to be dipped in something, takes more than two bites, needs to be perfectly balanced, or leaves trash behind.
Everyone Loves...
Delicious, well prepared pasta dishes! Not spaghetti... but a delicious manicotti, tortellini, or even lasagna are easy pasta dishes that please just about everyone! Who doesn't love carbs?
Everyone Hates...
Limp, sad looking salads... Catering a wedding is hard, and I give all my love and respect to the ones who do it well. But sometimes salads can look horribly unappetizing, that comes from having to prepare 246 of them at once. The lettuce gets soggy, there are often way too many of the wrong topping (cough... onions... cough cough), and the whole thing is drenched in dressing. No, thank you.
Everyone Loves...
Fresh, colorful salads! Try a fruit salad, or a kale salad with blueberries and cranberries (kale doesn't go soggy quite as quickly), or even a summer slaw! Basically, anything but iceberg. Iceberg lettuce makes sad wedding salads.
Everyone Hates...
Naked cakes... or sometimes, cake in general. So pretty to look at, but so dry and tasteless to eat. Many people find cake to be overused, so maybe offer different dessert options on top of cake?
